The Ark of Truth came crashing to the floor, & a brilliant light erupted from within the Ark; blinding the Doci as it enveloped him in its blinding radiance. Adria screame,d crying out in horror, the single shouted word escaping her lips as the now-Ascended Orici whom had taken on the mantle bequeathed her from the now-dead Orii watched on in alarm as ancient Alterran device shattered all her hopes, dreams & ambitions in a single instant.
The Doci looked at her & then feel to his knees, eyes staring straight ahead as, in that instant, the realization hit him: everything he had ever believed was a lie. The Orii were not gods. The people of Earth had been right all along.
His eyes filled with tears, his heart with sorrow, mumbling in Ancient as the small pinkish rose-qaurtz crystal embedded in his robes, which he used to communicate with the Priors scattered across the galaxy, transmitted the ray of light from the Ark to all of the Priors everywhere, their own staff’s glowing with it’s light, washing over the Priors & their followers alike.
Back in the chamber of the Orici, Adria was furious as she felt her power slipping, the energy her worshippers once fed her through their faith diminished as the light from the Ark of Truth felled the scales from their eyes & they realized the truth.
“I will fight you” Morgan said, the Ancient approaching her opponent, the Orii looking at her with pure hatred in her eyes; the two Ascended beings squaring off against one another as the non-Ascendeds in the room looked on in awe.
“You are not strong enough” Adria replied, “I’m more powerful than you”
“Maybe once” Morgan replied, “But not anymore!”
So saying the two went at it, fire & light, Ancient & Orii as the two Ascended beings fought high above the heads of the Humans, the Doci & the Jaffa, clashing again & again until the two twirled about each other in the air one last time & then separated, the pair vaporizing in a puff of light & smoke.
No longer transfixed by the battle of the two Ascended, Vala looked over to the Doci,& turning to Tomin, asked her husband:
“What did he say? I am sorry, but I don’t understand”
“He said: ‘Forgive me. Where once I was blind, now I see’.” Tomin replied, nodding to Vala.
Some time later, back on earth, Daniel brought in the Ark of Truth to into the room where a Prior of the Orii & the General Hank Landry were waiting.
“I am have something to show you” Daniel said.
“What is it?” The Prior replied, looking at Daniel incrediously, wondering what he had to show them that could possibly save their world from the wraith of the 7 Orii motherships waiting to subdue Earth & bring them into the fold of Origin.
“Why don’t you see for yourself?” Daniel replied, opening the Ark of Truth, it’s light blinding the Prior, his staff linked to all the other Priors in the Milkyway, revealing the truth about the Orii to the Priors in the Milkyway & all their followers; the deed done, Earth - & the rest of the galaxy – saved from the grip of the extremist views of the Orii’s followers, their Great Holy Crusade finally over, once & for all.
Daniel turned to Landry as they were discussing the Ark of Truth a short time later in his office, Daniel expressing his concerns that the Ark had not been destroyed as was planned originally.
“The Ark will remain at Area 51 for further study” Landry replied, also not happy that the I.O.A. had gone over his head & pressured the President into keeping the Ark in spite of it’s potential dangers.
“If they learn how to re-program it. . .” Daniel’s voice drifted off, thinking of the potential power & devastation the Alterran device could cause in the wrong hands, “It could be the most powerful weapon we have ever come across”
“I know” Landry replied, “I am sorry Daniel, but hands are tied. It will remain under lock & key at Area 51 for further study. I am sorry, but there’s little I can do about it”
Later that evening in her quarters, Vala looked at Tomin as he dressed in his armor & tunic, once again dressed in the regalia of an Orii commander.
“I don’t know what we’re going to do” Tomin replied sheepishly, at a loss for where to go & what to do now that the war was over.
“They are going to need leaders” Vala replied, “And you will make a great leader”
“The whole time I was being tortured by the Priors, oddly enough it was the teachings of Origin that helped keep me strong”
“The path to Ascension – no matter what it is called – is a noble one to follow” Vala replied, smiling. “Although, can I suggest that the whole burning people alive for not believing in the same thing you do should be one of the first things to go”
Tomin nodded, before saying: “Technically speaking, we’re still married. Vala, why don’t you come with me?”
Vala looked at the eyes of her husband, the longing & hope in his eyes & smiled, her own feelings tugging at her heart strings, even as she knew she had made her own decision.
“I still am not quite sure where I will be or where I belong” Vala replied, “But I hope it’s here. I am sorry Tomin”
Nodding his approval, if not his understanding, the two embraced & hugged one last time as Tomin prepared to leave, heading back to Celestis aboard an Orii mothership back through the Supergate as the 7 Orii motherships left Earth’s solar system; Earth - & the secrecy of the Stargate Program – safe & intact for nows.
The next day, Vala stood with the rest of SG-1, Colonels Samantha ‘Sam’ Carter & Cameron ‘Cam’ Mitchell by her side, the Jaffa warrior Teal’c & the Kewlonan renegade Jonas Quinn on the other.
“Well the Orii threat has been eliminated” She said, sighing a sigh of relief to herself, happy that things had turned out for the best. “All is right with the galaxy”
“There are still threats out there” Teal’c replied, referring to the likes of the Lucian Alliance, the Goa’uuld, the Aschen & the Ascended knew what else. “Not to mention there are over a thousand unexplored worlds in this part of the galaxy alone”
Jonas nodded as the others smiled, all greatful that the war with the Orii was over, the outcome better than any of them could of hoped for, given the circumstances.
“Well?” Cam asked as the gate activated, the team bracing themselves for another mission, “What are we waiting for?!?”
So saying, Cam walked up the ramp, followed by Vala, Sam, Teal’c & Jonas as they walked through the event horizon & through the gate on the next mission; the six friends knowing that as bad as things could get, that somehow, some way, things would be alright as long as they had each other. . . .
