- General Information - [/u]
Character Name: Olaf (Host) / Verak (Symbiote) Race: Tok'ra Host Species: Tollan (Advanced Society Near-Human). Host Gender: Male. Social Status: Tollan / Tok'ra Emissary to the Atlantis Expidition, scientist.
- Items -[/u]
1. Tollan emotion & memory recording device: A small device similar in appearence to the Tollan phase-shifter; this quirkly little device records emotions & memory for recall later on. The stored memories & emotions can then be replayed at will, & are commonly given as gifts amongst the Tollan from one person to another. When the Daedelus made it's first return trip to Earth from Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy, Olaf sent his emotion & memory recorder back with Colonel Cadwell to pass along through the SGC, to give to his family back on New Tollana on his behalf. The emotion/memory device is sent back & forth between Olaf & his family back on New Tollana (& occassionally, the Tok'Ra) whenever the Daedalus makes it's runs between the Milkway & Pegasus Galaxies; enabling Olaf & his relations to keep in touch across the vast number of light years between them.
2. Tollan Phase Shifter: Brought with Olaf & Verak when they first travelled to Atlantis, the Tollan phase shifter is a much-sought-after item for study by the people's of Earth. Whilst Olaf controls access to & monitors all research done on the device - as it never leaves his physical prescence - it is more Verak whom uses their phas shifting device on the various missions they may embark upon through the Stargate in their constant struggle against the Wraith & attempts to gain a greater insight into Ancient technology which may someday help their respective peoples. . . 3. Tollan Power Generator: Supplied to the Atlantis Expidition on loan frmo the Tollan Curia, this Tollan Power Generator helps power Atlanti's Control Chair & other secondary system, easing the city's strain on their ZPM & conserving energy for more important tasks; like shielding & cloaking the city from enemy attack.
Whilst a valuable power source with near-unlimited potential as an energy source; Tollan technology - like most technologies out there - is only limited in it's capacity in that Atlantis is specifically designed to operate first & foremost with Ancient technology (specifically Zero Point Modules, or ZPM's); & therefore, can only augement the Atlantis Expiditions power requirements so much.
The device, like advanced alien technology provided by Earth's offworld allies, & the Tollan in particular, is kept under heavy guard & it's use monitored at all times; to ensure that it is not misused & that the Tau'ri uphold their end of their alliance agreement with the Tollan at all times. . .
4. Super Solider Suit: A gift from the Tok'Ra High Council; this Super Solider suit is fully equiped with both armor & the plasma repeater wepaons technology that made the Kull Warriors such a formidable & near-unstoppable foe for the SGC & it's allie when Anubis first created them so many years ago.
One of few stil lthought to be in existence, they are quite hard to come by & fetch a hefty prcie on the interstellar black market; & are sought by many, inclduing the Lucian Alliance & rouge Goa'uuld.
Primarily used in Olaf & Verak's more dangerous offworld missions, the suit has proved invaluable on more than one occassion, & has proven it's mettle in battle; taking on Wraith stunners with resounding success. Olaf & Verak have further modified the suit to incoperate advancements in Tollan technology - incudling their phase shifting devices- & when not in use; is studied by the scientists & technicans of the Atlantis Expidition to further their understanding of combat technology & how it may adie their fight against their more advanced/powerful enemies, such as the Wraith & the Asurans. - Background / Character History -
One of the survivors of the mascare of Tollana by Anubis' forces, which was led by Tanith, Olaf was amongst the younger of those to escape Tollana with his life. Fleeing into deep space with his fellow Tollan, whom sought the help of the Tok'Ra in avoiding any further run-in's with the System Lords or the last of the vengence-seeking Satrians before re-building their ravaged homworld; Olaf was fascinated by the Tok'Ra resistence & all that it entailed. Wishing to take a more pro-active role protecting his people from such threats as the Goa'uuld - whom could no longer be ignored as a potential enemy of the Tollan people - Olaf joined the Tok'Ra, blending with one of their symbiotes who's current host was dying of old age.
Olaf soon found himself blended with Verak, a firey Tok'Ra symboite only recently spawned from Egiera, the Tok'Ra Queen Mother. Verak's previous host was already quite old when he blended with her, & had offered to become a host in order to impart vital information she had obtained about a rogue System Lord operating from her homeworld; staying on as an informant & aide, enabling the Tok'Ra to topple the System Lord with help from the SGC & the local populace. When time came for her to pass on a few months after the Tok'Ra & the SGC had defeated this System Lord - only to have Anubis arise as the bigger threat as time went on - Olaf offered to become Verak's new host; thereby ensuring the previous host's lifework would live on.
Upon blending with Verak, whom possessed extensive knowledge of the Goa'uuld & the genetic memory of both the Tok'Ra resistence (from his 'father', Egeria's consort) & Egeria's own memories; Olaf was filled with all the knowledge Verak contained, as well as the emotions & memories Verak carried with him from his previous host. Verak, in return, gained access to Olaf's knowledge, memories & emotions - including those of the attack on Tollana by Anubis' forces - as well invaluable insight into Tollan law, customs & technology. The pair set about putting their combined skills, wisdom & knowledge to good use; both to further the Tok'Ra cause & persuing their own mutual goals of protecting their respective people at the same time. When the Tollan re-established contact with the Humans of Earth, they were surprised that they had made so many advances so quickly; ableit with some help from the Asgard. They also learnt about Atlantis, the Pegasus Galaxy & the Wraith; & when Earth made contact with Atlantis for a second time using the ZPM found at Giza, Olaf was apart of the re-enforcements that got sent through the Stargate to help defend Atlantis.
Primarily stationed as an observor & technical engineer, Olaf represents both the Tollan & Tok'Ra interests in Atlantis, as well as being seen as somewhat of a key player in the fragile new friendship the Tollan have established with the people of Earth & their other allies. Olaf's understanding of advanced technologies has become invaluable to the Atlantis base, & Verak's Tok'Ra training is a useful aide in planning field operations against the Wraith, especially where stealth & covert actions are needed.
Recent developments have seen him & Verak go offworld on a variety of missions - including a disasterious mission to inflitrate a Hive ship - & with the new addition of several other alien specialisits from Earth's allies offworld - Olaf/Verak have become somewhat of a leader/poster child for the other displaced aliens from the Milkway Galaxy currently stationed on Atlantis. Olaf & Verak continue their convert operations of reporting back any new technology or devleopments they find in Altantis or the Pegasus Galaxy in general to the Tollan Curia & the Tok'Ra High Council; as well as continuing in thier own research, aiding the Altantis Expidition in their own unique ways - although only time will tell just how successful this will be. . .
- Mental Profile -
Olaf, like most Tollan, is serene, composed & aloof; & has something of an arrogant inferiority complex (something typical of the Tollan, it seems) towards less advanced cultures; although he has learnt to temper this somewhat, especially since the mascare of Tollana at the hands of Anubis. His youth & impetius sometimes let him get carried away, especially where science & technology are concerned. He has a passion for accquiring knowledge & expeirencing new things; & this fits in with both his & Verak's mutual goal of helping both the Tollan & the Tok'Ra survive in an increasingly uncertain universe. He finds the Wraith as a species abhorrent yet fascinating, & is extremely interested in their technology, & how it is both similar to, & how it differs from, the Ancient technology found at Atlantis.
Verak, by contrast to his host; is something of a firebrand. Like the belated Lantash, he is passionate about his beliefs & stands firm in the fire of his convictions; something which can occassionally get him into trouble, or cause tension between himself & others. Verak's hatred of the Goa'uuld knows no bounds, he detests & despises them utterly (especially given what they have done to the Tok'Ra, his mother, Egiera, his host Olaf & the Tollan people); & even with their recent fall from power, he longs to see the day when the Goa'uuld as a species as totally wiped from the face of existence, leaving the Tok'Ra & the other myraid species of the Milkyway Galaxy in peace to carry on with their lives. Verak's knowledge of the Goa'uuld & their technology, as well as his expertise in subversive & covert operations makes him a perfect choice for organizing field missions where stealth is paramount. Verak finds the Wraith even more sickening & disgusting than the Goa'uuld; & perhaps more than anyone realizes the potential danger they pose for the people of Earth & the Milkway Galaxy, something that concerns both Verak & his host greatly. Both have pledged their full support in using their various knowledge, skills & prowess to help defend Atlantis & fight the Wraith threat, although the method by which the pair operate has been a topic of contention for some time. Whilst there is no doubting who's side they are on in the war against the Wraith, the Atlantis crew must wounder exactly where Olaf & Verak's loyalty's lie; especially given Earth's past relations with both the Tollan & the Tok'Ra.
Having recently been torture mentally & physically by the Wraith - including being fed upon by the Queen of a Hive - Olaf & Verak have come out of the experience older (literally!), more wise, mature & more determined than ever to contribute positively to Atlantis Expidition & to help ride the Pegasus Galaxy of the threats that plague it once & for all; or die trying. . . .
