You've probably noticed by now that some posts done on the In-Character (IC) Boards look different to others.
The most obvious & immediate example is the way they are laid out : some are laid out like we would watch them on TV/DVD/video - in 3rd person. Others are laid out conversation style, like you might find over an IM conversation on MSN.
The reason for this is relatively simple :
When posting an IC post where no-one else's character is involved, or which only involves NPC's created by the owner of the main character featured inthat post; many people like to post in the 'Third Person Perspective', giving us an insight into the character interactions & the minds, emotions & thoughts of the characters they are portraying.
When posting an IC post in which two or more Members are having their characters (or NPC's created by said Members) interact within the RPG environment, they take turns to tell how their characters are feeeling, what they are thinking, & what actions (if any) they may take during their 'turn' at telling the story they are all apart of. This kind of posting is called 'Turn-based' posting, & is similar to a conversation between one or more people, akin to making up different parts of the story as they all go along, each taking a turn to add his or her narrative to the overall story. This kind of posting is also much truer to the classic style of RPG, like AD&D.
If you would like more clarification on this issue, or an example of how to post in the baove formats; please refer to the GETTING STARTED section of the RPG SYSTEM forum. Failing that, please feel free to contact a member of staff; & we'll be happy to assist you as best we can!
