Some enteries in the Species & Other Cultures Guide of the RPG SYS OP section of the board look different to others because some of the races &/or cultures mentioned therein are not mentioned in the offical STARGATE SG-1 RPG core rule book &/or errata; & as such, we have had to go on what little information we could gleen from the sources available to us (e.g: the T.V. series/comics/books, websites, etc).
Some races, such as the Gadmeer, are mostly products ofour own imagination; using what little knowledge we gained about them from offical sources, such as the T.V. series & the web. Others, such as the Netjerians, are never-before-heard-of-races that have been taken from the offical STARGATESG-1 RPG product line. Still other races are made up entirely from the imaginations of the RPG SYS OP (Ad. Min. / GM) & staff.
For those races that WERE mentioned in the offical RPG product line thatwe have decided to use in this RPG, we havetried to keep as true to the original information presented in these books as much as possible.
For those races, such as the Gadmeer - where we have had to go on guess-work, imagination & infrence - & the Unas - where not much seems to be stated in the offical RPG product line - we have tried to keep the standard layout for such entries as uniform & concise as we humanly, possibly can.
Where we are not given clear rules that state suchthings as racial traits, abilities, etc; we have devised them, taking great care adhere to the established precepts of that species as shown on the T.V. series/comics/books at all times (i.e: If it is not readily evident or shown to be fact/cannon in the STARAGTE universe by TPTB, then we have left it well alone), & to balance these species out with suitable weaknesses & flaws so as to not 'tip the scales' too far in favour of one particular species or culture within the RPG setting (e.g.: whilst the Gadmeer are technologically advanced & experts at genetic manipulation & high technology, they have trouble communicating with other races without the aide of said technology & cannot survive outside their native environs (they require a suflur-based environment to live) unless in a protective suit[/b]).
All in all, we hope this has helped answer some of your questions concerning the Species & Other Cultures Guide; & we hope this proves useful in helping decide which species &/or culture you choose to create your character from.
If you have any further questions regarding the Species & Other Cultures Guide of the RPG SY OP section of the webboard; please feel free to post them here, in a reply to this thread.
