- In a far-flung galaxy, a very, very long time ago on an unnamed planet in an unknown solar system, a mammalian species not unlike Humans evolve to sentience, giving rise to an advanced mammalian species scientists, philosophers, religious zealots, artisans and thinkers. Developing into a highly-advances society, these beings spread throughout their home galaxy, calling themselves the Alterra.
- The Alterrans develop a sophisticated network of technologically-advanced devices - including transport (teleportation) rings & Long-Range Communication Devices - throughout their home galaxy before a rising & ever-widening rift between the more scientific & fanatically religious members of Alterrans splits the race into two distinct factions :
The scientists amongst the Alterran people leave their home galaxy, passing through the Ida Galaxy on their way to the Milkyway Galaxy; landing first on the world of Dakara, exploring this new galaxy until they eventually settle on the third world of a solar system on the outer arm of the galaxy & name it Terra in honour of their former homeworld, settling in a specific part of their new home on the northern continental landmass, which they call Avalon.
Using this planet as a base, they explore their new surroundings, colonizing other planets & depositing Stargates on worlds all over the galaxy, establishing relations with the Asgard, the Nox & the Furlings; whom would join the Alterrans (now known as the Ancients) in forming an alliance between their four great races which would last for millennium.
Those religious fanatics of the Alterrans left behind in their home galaxy by their self-exiled brethen continued to evolve & grow until they ascend to a higher plane of existence to exist as pure conscious energy. Viewing their mastery over science & universe around them as justification for worship as gods, they form the Origin religion - one that places them at the centre of creation - & create a new species of Alterrans made in their own image to praise & worship them.
Renaming themselves the Orii, they would come to dominate the Alterran's home galaxy, all but forgotten; that is, if not for a chance encounter with a curious archaeologist & a inter-galactic smuggler/thief/con-artist many countless centuries later. . .
? ? ? - Now at the height of power, the Ancients send various ships into the wider universe on an on-going mission to explore the infinite, as yet uncharted, galaxies beyond the Milkyway; seeding numerous planets throughout the galaxies with Stargates, & launch the Destiny to follow up on the results, having found evidence of a coded message buried deep within the cosmic microwave background radiation left by an unknown intelligence at the beginning of creation. The Ancients intend on exploring these new worlds & networks of Stargates in these unfamiliar galaxies as they search for the fragments of this message in an effort to decode it's meaning (which they refer to as 'the destiny of all things') - devoting the resources of an entire generation to the project - but are stopped by their Ascension. Never seeing the plan to completion, this bold, ambitious & grand project is left by the way-side, all but forgotten. . .
? - During the building of Vis Uban - what was to be the crown jewel in their galaxy-spanning empire - the Ancients are struck down by a plague (which many widely believe to be the work of their arch-nemesis', the Orii) which sweeps through the galaxy like a scourge; affecting all that it touches & bringing even the mighty Ancients to their knees. Some choose to depart for new & unexplored territory, whilst others stay behind; eventually using the superweapon on Dakarra to start a-new & re-seed the galaxy with life once more, giving rise to a host of new species & cultures over the countless millennium to come (including the Goa'uuld, the Unas, & the Tau'ri, amongst others), before finally Ascending to a higher plane of existence.
? ? ? - Some of the Ancients leave Earth in their technologically-advanced city of Atlantis (possibly to escape the Plague); travelling to the Pegasus Galaxy, where they seed it with Human-form life; establishing a new empire that is friend to many developing Human worlds, their technology finally reaching it's apex.
Exploring the Pegasus Galaxy, the Ancients encounter the Wraith, another species with technology to rival that of their own. A war ensues, & the Wraith feed on the worlds of the Pegasus Galaxy like a great scourge, until only Atlantis itself remains. The Ancients fight valiantly for many years, but eventually concede defeat, sinking Atlantis beneath the waves & travelling back to Earth in the Milkyway Galaxy; to live the remainder of their lives in peace - some interbreeding with the primitive people of Earth (such as the Romans), others hiding in seclusion, whilst still others evolve to join the ranks of the Ascended, fading into the forgotten annuals of history.
? ? ? - Desperate to find a way to save his dying species, the Goa'uuld known as Ra searches the galaxy; eventually stumbling upon a planet of primitives - Earth; landing in planes of Africa in the dead of night. As Ra's ship descended upon the hapless Humans, one, whom was not afraid, approached the light, & in that moment; Ra took him as his new host. Realizing that their bodies were easy to heal & could be maintained indefinitely by the healing powers of his sarcophagus & other advanced technology, Ra informed others of his race about his discovery.
Taking Humans in ships, they seeded them amongst the stars, taking some as hosts, using others as slave labour or host populations to be maintained for future Goa'uuld larvae when they matured. Others, they turned into the first Jaffa, & used them as indentured servants; both incubators for their young & troops for their armies. The Goa'uuld then set about reclaiming their lost power, & Earth was mostly forgotten about - until a chance encounter many thousands of years later. . . .
The Middle Ages - The Ancient Moros (better known as 'Merlin', or 'Mirden', by Humans) de-Ascends & retakes Human form in order to work on a secret weapon capable of killing Ascended beings in order to combat the growing threat he sees in the Orii. During the course of his work, he forms the Knights of the Round Table - a group of Humans, led by King Arthur (whom he later helps Ascend), whom he entrusts with his secret - seeding various medieval cultures on numerous worlds across the galaxy; watched by his great rival, the Ascend Ancient Morgan Le Faye, whom is sent by the Others to observe (& if necessary, intervene) Merlin's work on the Sangraal, his anti-Orii weapon.
1928 A.D. - The Stargate is uncovered at the Giza plateau in Egypt.
1942 A.D. (world War II) - The Germans, led by the Nazi Party headed by Adolf Hitler, succeed in establishing a stable wormhole to another planet using the Stargate, which they name Himmel (the German word for 'Heaven'). Astonished by their unprecedented find & unwilling to walk away from a potential new resource to help feed the war effort; the Nazi's invade, claiming the planet on behalf of the Third Reich; only to never be heard from again. . .
1995 A.D. (Stargate : The Movie) - Dr. Daniel Jackson is laughed out of academic archaeological circles for his hypothesis' on ancient Egypt, & is hired by Catherine Langford, who's father discovered the Stargate at Giza in 1920's, to help work on a top secret project known as the 'Stargate'. Daniel journey's through the Stargate along with a U.S. military team lead by Colonel Jonathan ' Jack' O'Neill to the world of Abydos, where they encounter Humans transplanted from Earth, still living as their ancient Egyptian ancestors did thousands of years before.
The team encounters the Supreme Goa'uuld System Lord, Ra, & after many trails, tribulations & adventures; they defeat Ra & his servants, blowing up Ra's ship in orbit before heading back home. Daniel chooses to stay behind on Abydos with his new wife, Sha'uri, & live out their lives together in peace.
1996 (Season 1) - Another of Ra's race, a Goa'uuld known as Apophsis, arrives through the Earth Stargate & kidnaps one of the military personnel on watch at Cheyan Mountain; later kidding others, including Daniel's wife Sha'uri & his brother-in-law, Skarra, from Abydos. The Stargate Programme is officially put into effect with the formation of twelve teams, designated SG-1 through 12; with Colonel Jack O'Neill, Captain Samantha 'Sam' Carter, & Dr. Daniel Jackson forming SG-1.
SG units 1 & 2 venture through the Stargate to the planet Chulak, where they encounter the Jaffa, led by Apophsis' First Prime, Teal'c. Sha'uri becomes host to Apophsis Queen, Ammonet, whilst Skarra becomes host to his son, Klorel, along with several others whom become host to Apophsis & Ammonet's children. Teal'c & his Jaffa unit are ordered to kill the remaining hostages, but Teal'c turns on his fellow Jaffa; helping O'Neill & the others to escape back to Earth, but not before Apophsis, Ammonet (in Sha'uri's body), Klorel (in Skarra's body) & the rest of their children depart through the Stargate to destinations unknown.
1997 (Season 2) - The team encounters a Goa'uld resistance movement, & forms an alliance with the Tok'ra. Captain Carter's life is forever transformed, & the team witnesses the fall of the once-mighty Apophis.
1998 (Season 3) - Earth signs a treaty with the Goa'uuld to prevent invasion, but SG-1 continues to encounter deadly enemies -- including Sokar, a powerful rogue Goa'uuld poised to conquer the galaxy.
1999 (Season 4) - Earth joins the fight against the Asgard's seemingly unstoppable enemy, the Replicators; & discovers that the Russians have started a Stargate program. The team's arch enemy, Apophis, becomes more powerful than ever before.
2000 (Season 5) - A powerful new Goa'uuld enemy threatens to annihilate Earth and its allies. The System Lords renew their alliance, & one member of the team begins a new journey.
2001 (Season 6) - Jonas Quinn joins SG-1, & the team faces a powerful new Goa'uuld threat in the form of Anubis. Colonel O'Neill is forever altered, & the Asgard's conflict with the Replicators comes to a head.
2002 (Season 7) - Daniel Jackson re-joins the team after an incredible experience, as the team must find the Lost City of the Ancients to defeat Anubis.
2003 / 2004 (SG-1 Season 8 / SGA Season 1) - Anubis, a semi-ascended Goa'uuld, finally makes himself known, & instigates a struggle for domination of the galaxy. The Replicators, lead by a double of Colonel Samantha Carter - whom has replaced 5th as their leader - invade the Milkyway galaxy & lay waste to the System Lords; eventually being defeated by an Ancient weapon on the planet of Dakarra, which is also captured by the Jaffa, securing their freedom as slaves from the Goa'uuld. Anubis almost uses the weapon to wipe out life as we know in the Milkway galaxy, but is stopped at the last minute by Oma Desala.
From studying the Ancient inscriptions left at the Atlantus outpost in Antarctica, which was used to successfully defend Earth from an attack from Anubis & his fleet; Daneil manages to discern the location of the fabled Lost City of the Ancients, Atlantis, located in the Pegasus galaxy. An international team is assembled, consisting of military personnel, scientists & many others; headed by Dr. Elizabeth Wyer, & using the power of the Zero Point Module procured from Toanas on Proclarush, establish a wormhole to the Pegasus galxy.
Arriving in Atlantis, the team finds that the Ancient city has lost most of it's power, & as a result of their prescence, rises to the surface. The team then sets out to explore Atlantis & the worlds of the Pegasus galaxy to find more Z.P.M.'s in order to get home, & make a terrifying new enemy in the Wraith.
The Atlantis team travel the Pegasus galaxy on many missions, before eventually learning that six Wraith hiveships are headed for the city, intent on procuring it's technology, harvesting it's people as food & learning the whereabouts of Earth, so they can use it as a new feeding ground. Weir & the Atlantis team manage to send a short transmission back to Earth, indicating about the newest threat to Earth's continued existence; before preparing as best they can for the impending Wraith attack.
2005 (SG-1 Season 9 / SGA Season 2) - With the Goa'uuld on the decline, the Jaffa now freed, the Replicators destroyed, & Anubis otherwise dealt with, Earth is now relatively safe from most major threats in the galaxy - or is it? The Earth's first newly-developed Asgard/Human hybrid ship, the Daedelus, is sent to the Pegasus galaxy, along with re-enforcements (both on-board the ship & through the Stargate) & a Z.P.M., to help defend Atlantis from the Wraith; whilst the SGC finds itself undergoing some big changes.
Jack is promoted to head of Homeworld Security, replacing General Hammond, Colonel Mitchell joins SG-1, along with Jonas - whom returns from Langara to re-join the SGC, bringing SG-1's total members up to 5 - & General Landry replaces Jack as head of Stargate Command. The SGC's budget is cut by 70%, & a powerful new threat in the Orii, evil ascended beings akin to the Ancients; make themselves known. The SGC & it's allies combat the Orii & their followers with varying degrees of success - & more than a few heavy losses - as they set out in search of Merlin's fabled anti-Orii weapon : the legendary Sangraal (Holy Grail) itself. . .
2006 (SG-1 Season 10, SGA Season 3) - The Orii worshippers invade the Milkyway galaxy, & Vala Mal Doran joins SG-1 to help stop them. The search for Merlin's weapon takes on new urgency as the stakes continue to rise as the followers of the Orii forcibly convert the galaxy, one planet at a time.
With their race painfully & slowly dying by degrees, the Asgard choose to commit mass suicide rather than live out their rest of lives in suffering & agony; leaving their legacy - their knowledge, technology, all that that were & all that they are - to the people of Earth as the war with the Orii approaches a climatic point that will decide the fate of the Milkyway Galaxy once & for all.
The remnants of the Third Reich are defeated & Himmel is liberated as a new era emerges for the survivors of Nazi-era Germany on this long-forgotten world. Lira-Kai becomes a thriving nation in it's own right, becoming a major shipyard for the various races & cultures of the galaxy.
Meanwhile, the Atlantis team rushes to stop two Wraith Hive ships from reaching Earth; & must deal with the aftermath of that battle & the consequences of their actions. A new & powerful enemy is uncovered : the Asurans - technologically-advanced & sophisticated Replicators that have emulated the Ancients - parallel universes are found & explored (during which Atlantis' Z.P.M. power reserves are greatly drained), the Ancients return to claim the city from the Tau'ri & events are set in motion that will see one of the team dead, & the lives of the others irreversibly changed as the expedition continues to explore the Pegasus Galaxy.

In the Pegasus Galaxy, yet another new leader must step forward to lead the Atlantis Expedition as Michael & his Wraith/Human hybrids continue to cause trouble, the power of the Wraith begins to wane & a new coalition of planets is formed as the landscape of the Pegasus Galaxy changes in the wake of the galaxy-spanning war with the Asurans. A beloved leader thought lost is finally rescued, a powerful new enemy surfaces, ancient secrets are discovered, & things will never be the same again as Earth & their allies enter into their fifth year on Atlantis; looking towards the future as events come full circle & the Expedition enters into a new era of exploration in the Pegasus Galaxy & beyond.
The Orii Worshippers come back through the Supergate - this time on a mission of peace & healing - as they seek to establish trade relations with Earth & her allies & reconcile the sins of the past with hope for the future, as they take their first steps in a wider & ever-expanding universe.
2009 (STARGATE ATLANTIS: Legacy (series); Stargate: Universe, Season 1) - After six months of deliberations, repairs & political wrangling on Earth, Atlantis returns to the Pegasus Galaxy to find much as changed. New alliances are forged, old ones tested & the Expidition will be pushed to their limits as the Wraith are on the verge of unity once more under the egnimatic Queen Death as they make a bold bid to obtain intergalactic hyper drives to strike at Earth once & for all.
Meanwhile, on a secret off world base in the Milkway Galaxy, after unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's 9th chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by the Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.
What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never-ending mission, as the crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, & they must now fend for themselves. Travelling to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, & unable to control the ship's navigational schedule (meaning that if someone is left behind, then there is no way to go back for them), the crew must rely on their wits & each other as forefill the Ancients original plan & continue on the Destiny's grand mission.
2010 (Stargate: Universe, Season 2 - part 1): Entering into a new galaxy, Destiny continues it's inter-galactic journey into the farthest reaches of the unknown universe, bringing new dangers & new adventures as the Lucian Alliance seeks to wrest control of Destiny from the Tau'ri. Following their deadly incursion, the crew makes an amazing discovery as the bridge is accessed for the first time & Destiny's true mission is finally revealed. After many trials, tribulations & a few shocking losses, the crew learns to band together as never before as they continue to face new challenges.
2011 (STARGATE Universe, Season 2 -part 2): With alien Control Ships guarding every star & unable to gate for supplies without alerting their attack drones, Destiny must take a stand or be left adrift. With options low & running out of time, the crew devises a risky plan to recharge in a star so hot it could destroy the ship. With the ship recharged but no way or outrunning or out-gunning the Control Ships & their drones, Destiny embarks on a massive 3-way FTL jump which will take it out of the current galaxy, through the void, & into the next. With all but one of the ship's stasis pods functioning, Eli makes a brave sacrifice as the last crew member standing as the ship makes it's mammoth jump into the next galaxy. . . .
2012 (STARGATE SG-1: Revelations): The STARGATE Program is finally made public following a major Lucian Alliance attack on Earth; resulting in revelations which leads to a revolution with fad-reaching consequences for Earth, her allies & enemies, as well as all those involved in the STARGATE program - from SG-1, to Atlantis & beyond...
2014 (Destiny, Season 3 virtual fan continuation; STARGATE: IDA): Three years on, Destiny has reached the new galaxy, completing it's mammoth FTL jump. As the crew emerges from stasis, new revelations & discoveries are made as the intervening three years take their toll. How the crew will adjust to these changes - both aboard Destiny itself & back in the Milkyway at Homeworld Command - remains to be seen as they explore this new galaxy on the never-ending path to fore filling the Ancient's plan & discovering their own destinies.
Meanwhile, Daniel Jackson & the rest of SG-1 convince Homeworld Command & the IOA to let the SGC explore the Asgard home galaxy of Ida in an attempt to gather new resources in their on-going war with the Lucian Alliance & salvage any advance technologies left behind by their former allies. Exploring strange new worlds, the latest SG team encounter new foes, uncovering old secrets & opening up a new chapter of exploration for Earth & her allies.
With all these happenings & inter-galactic relations & exploration taken to new heights, how things will turn out or what the future holds is anyone's guess.
For now, at least, all these questions & many more remained as-yet unanswered, & it seems that only time will tell in a universe where the possibilities are boundless & the adventure is as big & as never-ending as the universe itself!!
