N.B.: This post takes place roughly between the STARGATE SG-1 Season 9 episodes The Powers That Be & Ex Deus Machina.
The planet of Lira-Ke (PZ4-669), one year-&-a-half ago (circa 2004, around the Season 8 episode Threads). . .
"Demons!" The cry went up all over the megapolis as the citizens of Serquet - mostly of Egyptian/Roman descent, although their were a few Greeks, Phoenicians & a smattering of European minorities present in the increasingly panicked crowd - as the masses started to brake into mass panic; priests & other officials attempting in vien to quell the concerns of the crowd.
"Go about your business!" A nearby priest cried in a holier-than-thou, authoriative voice that would normally demand obidence. "There is nothing to fear. Official channels are in place to deal with this threat"
"But these mechanical demons are overrunning Serquet!" A young woman standing nearby, clutching a small child in her arms. "What are the Jaffa doing to combat these invaders? Where is the goddess Selket?"
"Her divine emmience, the goddess Selket, is in her private chambers atop the great temple, directing the assault to repell these invaders" The priest replied calmly.
"Is she not a goddess, does she not have nothing to fear form these creatures?" Someone else asked, "Why does she not lead the attack herself?"
"She is a goddess, her ways a mystery to us : we cannot question her judgement, nor her wisdom; only do as she asks of us & be content that she will protect us & shield us from these creatures" The priest replied.
"Then why - " yet another person started, only to be cut off the ommineous sound of moving gears & metallic feet on cobblestones.
Everyone turned & looked on horror as massive army of metallic, spider-esque, bug-like creatures rounded a nearby corner, the wave of metallic bodies seeming to extent on forever. The crowd became more panicked & started to back away, breaking into a dead run as the nearby Jaffa patrol which had shown up only mintues before to help quell the potential roit turned their attention to the new, bizzare threat.
Opening fire, their staff wepaons & zat'nik'tel's had no effect, serving only to slow down & irritatetheir enemy more as the wave of mechanical monsters overwhlemed them & came for the crowd; which by now had been overtaken by fear & self-preseveration; running for their lives as their mysterious enemy advanced upon a frightened populace.
The Replicators had invaded the world of Lira-Ke; & they weren;t leaving unrtil they had consumed every scrap of technology on the heavily industralized planet. By the end of the day, the Replicators has consumed a great deal of technology from the shipyards - although almost all the infrastructure of their world had been untouched, the Replicators consuming only what they needed - before making their way to Selket's Temple on the outskirts of Serquet. By the time the Stargate activated & a strange wave of radiation swept over the surface of Lira-ke & out into space beyound, reducing the Replicators to their base components & rendering them utterly destoryed; Selket herself - Scorpion Goddess & creator of the Ashrak assassins - was dead. In spite of their goddess' death, Lira-ke & it's people went about their business as normal; that was, up until the day, a year-&-a-half later, when the owlrd was invaded yet again : this time, by an enitrely different sort of enemy - the Nazi's.
Lira-Ke, the present day. . .
The Stargate activated during the dead of night; wave after wave of small, unmanned, T-shaped craft emerging from the event horizon as an small armada of Gao’uuld Hat’tak-class vessels - 6 in all - dropped out of hyperspace in orbit around Lira-Ke, originating themselves strategically around the planet as they released several waves of death gliders & al’kesh bombers upon an unsuspecting world. Following the initial assault, a large army came through the Stargate - dressed in Nazi regalia, proudly waving the Nazi flag & banner of the Orii; the Swastika & symbol of the Origin religion flying high as the invaders made their presence felt all over Serquet; spilling out into all areas of the planet.
Landing craft deposited still more troops, & Nazi warplanes, tanks & anti-aircraft guns were deposited at various places all over the planet as the Nazi colonists invaded in force; intent on claiming Lira-Ke for the colony on Himmel & the Orii. Following this massive display of force, the Nazi’s were faced with some significant resistance in the form of Lira-Ke’s native population - which included Jaffa still loyal to Selket & the dreaded Ashrak assassins - although the technology they had acquired from their missions off-world & supplied them by the Priors of the Orii went along way to securing them victory.
Within 3 weeks, the Nazi’s had secured Lira-Ke for the Reich & the Orii; a notable feat in & of itself. Once Lira-Ke was deemed secure & the local populace subdued, the world was visited by Hans Schrek, the Fhurer of the Reich himself; & a Prior of the Orii - the same Prior whom had first brought Origin to Himmel.
“Citizens of Lira-Ke” Hans cried, addressing the populace from atop Selekt’s Temple, his victory speech being broadcast across the entire surface of Lira-Ke & into the home, hearts & minds of it’s people. “This is a great & glorious day for you all. We, the armed forces of the Greater German Third Reich & servants of the Orii; have liberated your world from those whom would keep you in service to the false goddess you call Selket”
There was an uproar as several thousand people cheered, although the majority of Serquet’s population chose, wisely, to keep silent until the speech was over. Hans waited until the uproar had died down to an acceptable level before continuing his speech :
“This so-called goddess, Selket, was, in fact - & I suspect many of you already know this to be true - a Goa‘uuld; nothing more than a parasite in the body of Human, manipulating you all into doing her biding. She enslaved you, taught you fear. But it is not Selket‘s wraith, nor that of her devout followers you should fear : fear the darkness, the ignorance that she had brought upon you, the crimes she has committed by forcing to worship a false idol, when the truth of your existence is so much more. We, the people of the [iReich[/I], follow gods much more powerful than a mere parasite hiding inside the body of woman masquerading as a divine being. Our gods are the Orii, our religion is Origin. This is the true religion of the true gods. We ask that you embrace Origin & accept it into your hearts - just as we have done - in order to achieve enlightenment & save your souls from the wickedness & evils that would consume you”
He paused, letting his words sink in as he motioned the Prior to come forward to stand beside him; before continuing with his speech :
“This is a Prior of the Orii. He has shown the people of Himmel the way to enlightenment in worship of the true gods. It is by the will of the Orii that we have succeeded in liberating your world from those whom oppress you; so that you, too, may eventually find enlightenment. Hear his words, & except Origin into your bodies, minds, & hearts; so that you may save your souls & rejoice in the warmth & truth of true enlightenment that the Orii bring”
“Hallowed are the Orii” The Prior intoned, his image filling the holographic monitors all over Lira-Ke, the crowd assembled belong Selket’s Temple looking up as he addressed the million of Lira-Keans all over the globe. “Hallowed are the children of the Orii”
“Hallowed are the Orii, hallowed are we” Hans replied softly, having taken a step back to allow the Prior to take centre stage for this crucial part of the victory speech.
The Prior waited for a few moments for the crowd to settle down & become silent before carrying on with his ministrations :
“People of Lira-Ke; citizens, merchants, officials, all : I bring you the words of the Orii; as written by the gods themselves in the Book of Origin” so saying, he held up the Book of Origin he carried with him at all times - his staff outstretched in the other - as he opened the holy text to the precise page he needed & quoted from it’s hallowed pages, :
“And thus, were the people oppressed by a great serpent, whom did spit venom & speak sweet lies. And the serpent did contort & control until the Orii came & laid it low & made it unto dust. But the servants of the serpent & it’s brood did maintain their stranglehold on the people, like weeds in the garden, until the chosen came & cast them out. Doth did the people come to be free, & they rejoiced, & the Orii rejoiced with them; for they had seen the light, & had began their journey on the road to enlightenment”
Many in the crowd gasped at the Prior’s words; seeing in them their opression - & subsequent liberation - from Selket & her minions as being prophesied in the Book of Origin. Others, not so easily swayed by the words of stranger, held their tongues & listened to the Prior’s words as he addressed the people; reserving judgement.
“You may wonder why I speak these words” The Prior continued, “How could they be true; if the Orii were not the one & only true gods? How could a prophecy written millennia of your years ago in an entirely different galaxy come to pass only now, today, just as I have told you?”
At these words, many people did start to murmur & question; truly knowing not what to believe; some clearly confused, some awed by the fact the words in a mere book could predict so accurately what had transpired on their world in the course of the last year-&-a-half.
“The Orii are all powerful & all knowing, they see & hear all; looking into the hearts & minds of all, surveying all of their creation, from the dawn of time unto the end of days. If you doubt my words, read the Book of Origin & see for yourself; we invite you to discover the wisdom & power of the Orii, to except Origin into your heart & join all true believers in worship of the Orii”
“And what if we refuse to worship the Orii?” Someone called out, his words picked up by a hidden surveillance device & relayed to the podium from which the Prior was making his speech atop Selket’s Temple.
“And Castius wandered from the path, but he found his way back; & was forgiven” The Prior replied, quoting from the Book of Origin. “Those whom embrace Origin & the Orii wholeheartedly shall receive enlightenment; those whom are prideful, & refuse to bow down; shall be laid low & made unto dust”
At those words, Hans took the stage again, the Prior yielding to the Fuhrer as he addressed the crowd yet again :
“We urge you all to except Origin into your hearts & save your own souls” Hans said, “Those unbelievers amongst you shall be weeded out & vanished. Origin & the truth it represents cannot be stopped, cannot be extinguished. You shall all receive enlightenment or perish at your own hands”
At those words, the crowd went silent, finally realizing that they had merely traded one set of masters for another; finally realizing the truth of their supposed ’salvation’.
“I declare that you are now all citizens of the Third Reich & followers of Origin; & hereby rename & rededicate this temple to the Orii. Let it serve as a constant reminder of our devotion to the gods, & let it be a beacon of light in this new age of enlightenment. This our victory here this day mark your liberation from darkness & the evils that have plagued you; & let us all embrace the will of the Orii, let us all move forward as we embrace our destinies!”
Holding his hands up, the crowd roared; the Nazi soldiers cheered, & the Prior nodded his agreement. Today was a great & glorious day.
Yet another world had been claimed for the Orii. . .
