? ? ? - The Ancients send out two ships into the wider universe on an on-going mission to explore the infinite, as yet uncharted, galaxies beyond the Milkyway; seeding numerous planets throughout the galaxies with Stargates. The Ancients intend on exploring these new worlds, these new networks, of Stargates in these unfamiliar galaxies; but are stopped by their Ascension. Never seeing the plan to completion, this bold, ambitious & grand project is left by the way-side, all but forgotten. . .
2009 (Stargate: Universe, Season 1) - After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's 9th chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned Ancient starship called the Destiny, launched by the Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.
What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never-ending mission, as the crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, & they must now fend for themselves. Traveling to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, & unable to control the ship's navigational schedule (meaning that if someone is left behind, then there is no way to go back for them), the crew must rely on their wits & each other as they seek to forefill the Ancients original plan & continue on the Destiny's grand mission. . . .
2010 (Stargate: Universe, Season 2) - Entering into a new galaxy, Destiny continues it's inter-galactic journey into the farthest reaches of the unknown universe, bringing new dangers & new adventures as the Lucian Alliance seeks to wrest control of Destiny from the Tau'ri. Following their deadly incursion, the crew makes an amazing discovery as the bridge is accessed for the first time & Destiny's true mission is finally revealed. After many trials, tribulations & a few shocking losses, the crew learns to band together as never before as they continue to face new challenges.
2011: With alien Control Ships guarding every star & unable to gate for supplies without alerting their attack drones, Destiny must take a stand or be left adrift. With options low & running out of time, the crew devises a risky plan to recharge in a star so hot it could destroy the ship. With the ship recharged but no way or outrunning or out-gunning the Control Ships & their drones, Destiny embarks on a massive 3-way FTL jump which will take it out of the current galaxy, through the void, & into the next. With all but one of the ship's stasis pods functioning, Eli makes a brave sacrifice as the last crew member standing as the ship makes it's mammoth jump into the next galaxy.
2014: Three years on, Destiny has reached the new galaxy, completing it's mammoth FTL jump. As the crew emerges from stasis, new revelations & discoveries are made as the intervening three years take their toll. How the crew will adjust to these changes remains to be seen as they explore this new galaxy on the never-ending path to fore filling the Ancient's plan & discovering their own destinies. . . .
