The offspring of the Tratior Queen, Egeria, the Tok'Ra were a resistence movement within the ranks of the System Lords & the greater Goa'uuld collective; operating from within to bring down their evil cousins.
Existing in a true symbiotic relationship with their hosts, the Tok'Ra differ ideologically & physophically speaking from their more parasitic brethen; & take great offense when compaired to the Goa'uuld &/or System Lords, seeing them as vile, evil & replusive, standing for everything the Tok'Ra hate & dispize, everything they are fighting against.
They became allies with the rebel Jaffa & the people of Earth late in the Third Goa'uuld Dynasty, helping those free Jaffa & the people of the Tau'ri in various missions against the Goa'uuld - suffering great losses in the process - finally succeeding in thier mission when they helped the Tau'ri & the free Jaffa to defeat the Replicators (whom in turn defeated the Goa'uuld, bringing an end to the System Lord's stranglehold on the Milkyway Galaxy).
In the years since the downfall of the Goa'uuld, the Tok'Ra have been quite busy; with the Tok'Ra Queen, Egeria, spawning new Tok'Ra symbiotes at a truely monumental rate, the Tok'Ra establishing themselves as a modest galactic power - along with the Free Jaffa Nation (with whom they are allied) & the likes of the Lucian Alliance, the Tollan, & others - always remaining on the move as they hunt down the last surviving Goa'uuld & make their way in this bold new era of galactic intergue & exploration.
With the threat of the Orii at the Milkyway's doorstep; the Tok'Ra joined forces with the Free Jaffa Nation, the people of the Tau'ri, & their other allies (such as the Tollan, the Gadmeer & the Asgard) to help stem the tide of the evil ascended beings bloody 'Holy Crusade' to convert the Milkyway Galaxy to Origin & worship of the Orii. Following the end of the Crusade, the Tok'Ra once again find themselves thrust into a galaxy - indeed a wider universe - which has changed yet again; forcing them to adapt (as always) or be left behind.
Whilst they still have a long way to go, & their true motives are always up for speculation, no one can doubt their unwavering commitment towards creating a free, peaceful galaxy : one in which the Tok'Ra may hopefully, finally, be free of all that has plagued them. . .
